Experience-type Tourism That Links All of Japan to the World
On the establishment of the Higashiosaka Tourism Promotion Agency (Higashiosaka DMO)
The Hanazono Rugby Stadium in Higashiosaka, a mecca for rugby, has been chosen to hold the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Also, the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics will be held in 2020, and the Kansai World Masters Games are expected to be held in 2021.
Additionally, as part of the “Tourism Vision to Support the Future of Japan,” the government has set a goal of 40 million visitors by 2020, significantly surpassing the current figure of 20 million and has indicated its aim to achieve even further growth in visitor numbers.
To make the most of this opportunity, and in order to increase the nonresident population and stimulate the local area,
we have come together with the local community with the aim of creating a tourist area here in Higashiosaka from the perspective of the tourism management idea of “Good to live in, Good to visit, Good to do business in.”
In order to do so, the Higashiosaka Tourism Promotion Organization, as the Higashiosaka DMO, has set 3 priority measures as part of the Higashiosaka Tourism Promotion plan:
01 Promotion of [Experience-type] Tourism to make the most of being a city of manufacturing
02 Promotion of [Rugby(sports)] Tourism to make the most of being a city of rugby
03 Promotion of [Culture/Downtown Area] Tourism to make the most of cultural resources, shopping districts and the like
In concrete terms, we will promote the points above leading to the generation of an economic effect on the area, the development of a new tourism industry, and the building of a city for which all local residents can feel affection and pride.
